South Holland deploys residents to combat vacancy

By Uncategorized No Comments

The province of South Holland asks residents to send in good ideas for empty buildings or sites.

For example, the province wants to inspire parties such as municipalities, property owners and project developers in tackling vacancy and enter into discussions about the possibilities of the available space.

Everyone – from resident to property owner – can participate in the call and submit a so-called idea via the province’s website. That can be a wild idea that is described in only one sentence, but also a calculated plan on which a group of residents and/or entrepreneurs have been working on for some time. Deputy Adri Bom-Lemstra: ‘It’s about getting each other to think about how we can best use the scarce space in South Holland. So that we don’t build for vacancy and, for example, keep the shopping streets lively and pleasant.’

The province realizes that not all ideas can be implemented. However, the relevant municipalities will be informed about the submissions. Entrants who indicate that they want this can expect a phone call about their idea. In addition, all entrants have a chance to win a weekend away at Hotel New York in Rotterdam, the former office of the Holland-America line that, after years of vacancy, is now a catering facility.

Signing two contracts Park Harga in Schiedam

By Uncategorized No Comments

Mayor of the Municipality of Schiedam Cor Lamers, director Marcel Schipper of VolkerWessels Vastgoed and director Harrie van Noorden van Thunnissen have signed the land allocation agreement for (the continuation of) the construction of approximately 380 homes in Park Harga Schiedam. Mayor Lamers also signed a contract with director Tonny de Morée of Van Kessel Sport & Cultuurtechniek (part of Koninklijke VolkerWessels) for the construction of two multifunctional sports buildings and associated sports fields.

The Park Harga Midden development combination is a joint development of VolkerWessels Vastgoed and Thunnissen. The development combination will develop and build the next phase of the new sustainable residential area Park Harga at its own expense and risk.

The housing supply consists of both land-bound homes and apartments, in the owner-occupied and rental segment. The construction of 380 homes is in line with the previous residential development in Park Harga.

As part of a larger area development, the municipality of Schiedam is developing a new sports park on Harga. There will be two multifunctional buildings for the football clubs HBSS, SVV and Hermes-DVS, which will also contain space for a health center and childcare. In addition to the buildings, Van Kessel Sport & Cultuurtechniek also realizes the associated sports fields and outdoor space.

All homes in Park Harga have underfloor heating, a ground source heat pump, triple glazing and solar panels, making them energy neutral and comfortable. In addition, the homes are delivered gas-free. The solar panels and heat pump generate sufficient energy for heating, cooling and ventilating the home and for supplying hot water.

The first phases of Park Harga are under construction and will be completed at the end of 2017/beginning of 2018.
